Wilhelm Schmalz was a knights cross holder with oak trees. A remarkable person. His military career started in 1914 when he entered the cadet corps. After border fights in upper Schlesia he entered the Reichswehr.
He talent for riding led him to the national olympic team between 1926 and 1928. In WW II he fought until the end of the war in East Prussia, Schlesia and Saxonia. After the war hew was brought to court accusing him for war crimes. In 1950 he was declared as non guilty under all aspects in Rome.
